Its amazing how idiotic some people can be when they arrogate themselves to the position of commenting about Islam, particularly the Holy Al Quran Al Kareem. The problem with these Islamophobic individuals is that they do not know first-hand about the position of women in Islam, as it is practiced in the Muslim world since the Prophet Muhammad, salla allahu alayhi wassallam, first preached this Message of pristine Truth

.After all, truth is a concept which Islamophobes like this person, Elaine Lim, have a hard time trying to grasp. I, as a Muslim, am totally offended when we have kaafirs like Elaine Lim telling me that my religion discriminates me. It is totally preposterous.

This sweeping statement, for example:

I said hypocritical because the Quran has the most questionable scriptures about women_to_begin_with. I am sure I don’t have to point out which ones. Basically, there is no equality although some Muslim fundies would like to preach to me about how_it_is_equal, even though it’s not.

Probably she does not wish “to point out which ones” because there are no such verses discriminating women in the first place. Dr Hassan al-Turabi’s On The Position of Women in Islam and Islamic Society is a good read at this point, eloquently refuting this misconceived, abhorrent, stereotypical and untruthful statement.

Notice also how this person tries to side-step the issue by claiming that despite what “some Muslim fundies would like to preach to” her, she still holds to this errant belief. In other words, she is not willing to listen to the other side, already making up her mind and at the same time committing the logical fallacy of poisoning the well by branding them with the label “fundies” (intended to be derogatory, but someone who does not hold to the fundamentals of Islam is not a Muslim, as far as The Islamoholic is concerned).

You are an Islamophobe, Elaine Lim. This is the honest-to-God, unbiased assessment based on what you have spouted thus far about Islam and based on your attitude towards Islam and Muslims in general which is contained in your blog.

While I’m sure it’s more than easy for you to tap the keyboard to call my partner all sorts of stuff, before you go off in slander with anger, you should know that my partner has knows more about Islam than she lets on. She isn’t quoting from the air so to speak. So while it’s easy to let misconceptions fuel anger, just hold up a little and ask the person why they would say what they say. Next time just ask, nicely.
